Sassa Grants and Payment Amount

SRD grant is for those who are unemployed and are citizens of South Africa. Also, refugees, asylum seekers, and special permit holders are also eligible for this financial aid. To qualify for this grant, the applicant must have no or very minimum source of income and the age limit is between 18 to 60 years.
Old Person Grant
It is a pension program for old age people. To be eligible for this grant, an applicant must have an age between 60 to 75 years old. Sassa will distribute R2080 per month to all the beneficiaries who are between 60 to 75. And for those who are older than 75, they will receive R2100 every month.
Disability Grant
Another grant is allocated for disabled persons. This is for those who have a disability and can not work to earn money. If this disability stays for 6 to 12 months, then Sassa will allocate a temporary grant. However, if the disability is permanent so the grant is. But it does not mean that you will get it for the rest of your life but for 1 or 2 years maximum. The amount of this grant is R2080 per month.
War Veterans Grant
It is income support for ex-soldiers who fought the following wars:
- Korean War (1950 to 1953)
- Second World War (1939 to 1945)
If you are the one who has fought any of these wars and you are financially weak then you can apply for this grant. The amount for this grant is R2100 per month.
Foster Child Grant
If you are a caregiver of a foster child then you can apply for a Sassa foster child grant to grow that child with ease. You will be paid R1120 per month to take care of that foster child.
Care Dependency Grant
Another grant is for parents or foster parents who have the responsibility to look after a disabled child. The grant will start from the birth of that child and will continue until that child turns 18 years old. You will get R2080 every month.
